Summer Travel Tip #3

If you haven’t considered vacation rental sites like AirBnB yet, check out this frank and funny NY Times story to see if it might be for you. If you’re travelling with kids or extended family it’s a great option. These sites are a gift to the travelling family, as even the most upscale (and they do exist) places are generally less expensive than hotels. You can stock the fridge and enjoy a home base that’s larger than most hotel rooms. Plus you’ll get the chance to grocery shop in your (temporary) neighbourhood. This might not seem very exciting, but you’ll change your mind when you walk into a London grocer, cheesemonger or wine merchant. If you’d like to live like a local anywhere in the world (and maybe even hang out with some) this is a travel option worth exploring.
