The signs of Spring have only just sprung but we here at Mrs. R Mag can’t help but have the promise of fresh balmy weather and the prospect of home renovations on our minds.
When it comes to picking which home reno to tackle (we wish we could do them all!) you can never really go wrong with choosing curb appeal. The front of your home is an extension of what’s on the inside, and a good first impression is key. Perhaps the most effective refresh could be updating the exterior. This year, we’re seeking a little advice from home exterior paint specialists, Spray-Net (hot off their Dragons’ Den debut) on what colours will stand the test of time and stand out on the cul de sac. Spray-Net uses a proprietary technology of specially formulated paints so it’s not like regular paint companies. There are no college kids on ladders with this – it’s a spray paint formula that gives a “factory finished” look while being both UV resistant and offering a layer of insulation to withstand extreme Canadian temperatures. And it can all be done in a single day.
Spray-Net partnered with award winning designer and Principal of Dvira Interiors, Dvira Ovadia, on the release of their 2016 Colour Trends. In her design work on HGTV shows including Income Property and the Unsellables, Dvira has done countless projects – inside and out. When it comes to exteriors, she’s chosen three key palettes: Mixed Metals featuring rich metallic undertones, Industrial & Reclaimed with its sable and greys, and our personal favourite, Blue is the New Black. According to Dvira “all tones of blue, from bold and invigorating to soothing and calm, can be incorporated into any colour palette and can lend itself to contemporary and traditional design inspirations. Simply classic and timeless, adding the right pop of blue can create a lasting statement.” And with that we patiently wait for the Spring showers to subside so the home improvements can begin.
