  • When was the last time you walked out of a facial and were greeted by a chorus of "Wow. You are glowing!"  Well, that's exactly what happened to me post-facial at the new Caudalie spa at Sherway Gardens. The source of the glow? Caudalie's Polyphenol C15 Detox Facial featuring the star ingredients grape-seed polyphenols and vitamin C.   Both work to shield skin from free radicals and prevent future damage, and when combined with cleansing and exfoliation, a detoxifying mask with pink clay, coffee and grape marc, made my skin look and feel smooth and revitalized. Bonus points for that effect lasting well into the week.  And extra points for the beautiful surroundings, great service, the hand/foot massage and the graciousness of aesthetician Susan.  For a look at the full (affordable) spa menu, click here. In case you're not familiar with the brand, Caudalie is a relatively new French beauty line created by Mathilde Cathiard-Thomas and her husband Bertrand Thomas. It is based on vinotherapy,  a beauty therapy process which uses the residue of wine making to help reduce the problems associated with ageing.   Sensitive-types, take note -  what's not in their line is almost as important as what is: Screen Shot 2016-01-27 at 10.33.16 AM The couple learned about the powerful impact of grape seeds, skins and stems on skin from a professor at the Pharmacy Faculty of Bordeaux. Using grapes from Château Smith Haut Lafitte (which belongs to her parents, lucky girl), the Thomas’ launched their line of vinotherapy beauty products in 1999.  Four years later, they opened the world’s first wine spa:  Les Sources de Caudalie is located in a castle in the Bordeaux region in France. castle For now, I'll have to settle for amassing a Caudalie collection in my own rather more humble abode.  My first purchase was their incredible Beauty Elixir.  This toning mist sets makeup and tightens the look of  pores with rosemary, mint and soothing essential oil of  rose.  My new winter skin hydrating trick: mix a few sprays with face cream for a dewy boost.  I also couldn't resist their brand-new  Make-Up Removing Cleansing Oil.  Made of natural sunflower and castor oil, its non-greasy texture leaves my skin feeling deeply clean and moisturized with a (wait for it) dewy texture.
